Month of the Military Child 2024

During the month of April, we invite you to join us as we celebrate our Military Children!

The children of service members learn to be independent and flexible as they adapt to frequent moves and deployments. Their ability to navigate the unique challenges of military life makes them inspirational and deserving of recognition for their strength and resilience. Much like wildflowers, they can be rooted for a short season then ready to fly in the next.  

The year's official MOMC theme is “Military Child: Brave, Fearless, and Resilient.”

This year's local MOMC theme is "Operation Wildflower: Rooted, Resilient, & Ready to Fly."

Below is a list of the different programs and events in honor of Month of the Military Child (MOMC). ALL of these events are open to DOD ID cardholders.

MOMC Drawing Contest at Hays Library

The theme for this year's MOMC contest is Celebrate! (What’s great about being a military child?)

  • Entries for the Drawing Contest will be accepted after Story Time at Hays Library (Wednesdays at 10:00 AM). During the first 3 weeks of April, all accepted entries will be displayed at the circulation desk.
  • During the last week of April, patrons will be able to vote for the best drawing.
  • The winner will get a prize basket.

  • CYS Spirit Week!

    • 01 Apr - Flower Power: wear purple or spring colors

    • 02 Apr - Tie Dye Tuesday: wear tie dye

    • 03 Apr - Kindness Wednesday: Spread some kindness by brightening up your sidewalks with colorful and inspirational quotes and pictures, create cards for local nursing homes or parents, make paper flower, etc.

    • 04 Apr - Earth Friendly Day: wear recycled items, plant flowers in boxes or seeds in Ziploc bags or create a recycled robot.

    • 05 Apr - The Future of CYS is Bright: wear sunglasses and/or bright colors.

  • MOMC Colorful Fun Run: Happening at both Fort Stewart (Donavan Field) and Hunter Army Airfield (Family Day Field).
