10-Hour Child Care Rule

The Army has the responsibility to balance the ability of Families to rely on one another to meet their short term child care needs, protecting the safety and well-being of children.    

The 10 hour per week limit means any Family member living on-post in privatized housing, providing child care for than 10 child care hours per week on a regular basis must be certified as a Family Child Care Provider.  Don't worry, you can still watch your friend's children without needing to be certified as long as you do not provide more than 10 hours a week of child care on a regular basis.  Providing unauthorized care places you at risk of losing your housing privileges.  Please report any violations to your CYS office immediately.
