Join us on Tuesday, September 3, from 9AM to 11AM at Newman Fitness Center for a 9/11 Unity Climb kick-off event. This climb is designed to bring together Fire Personnel, Police, Military, and Civilians to honor those that we lost due to the events of 9/11, as well as continue to honor those who continue to serve and protect us from foreign and domestic threats.
Participants will climb 2,071 steps (equivalent to 110 floors) on the stair master, which is the equivalent of the World Trade Center's Twin Towers. Each tower consisted of 110 floors and 2,071 steps.
Participants will have the chance to sign up to complete the climb on the stair master. This climb can be done solo or through teams. Participants are welcome to come in full gear. Observers are also welcome to come and support those who are completing the challenge.
The 9/11 Unity Climb will be held as an honorary step-off event for the Patriot Day 5K Run (held on September 7) and will be available for participants to complete after Tuesday's event (through September 11th) during staffed hours. This self-guided 9/11 Unity Climb challenge will be available at both Newman Fitness Center and Tominac Fitness Center during staffed hours.
All participants (whether completed on Tuesday morning or by September 11) that complete this challenge will have the honor of signing their name on the 9/11 Unity Climb banner and will receive a free t-shirt.
Please note: T-Shirts will be available for pickup at both Newman and Tominac Fitness Center's front desk at a later date. Those who complete the challenge will be contacted for pickup.
